Floris meydam (Leerdam/the Netherlands 1919-Leerdam 2011) came in the service of the glasfabriek Leerdam as assistant in the advertising department n 1935. From 1939 until 1943 he followed  the evening school for Industrial Art Education in Utrecht where he was taught by the painter Willem van Leusden and the sculptor Willem van Kuilenburg. In 1943 and 1944, he followed the course glass decoration on the Glass school Leerdam, to which he himself would be connected  as a teacher glass decoration from 1944-1947.  In 1949 he became head of the design Department of Leerdam.

Meydam designed for Leerdam glass panels, use and glass packaging,  as well for serial production as for unica. The design of its useful glass and unica shows a lot of kinship with the Scandinavian glass art from the 1950-70. In addition to his oeuvre, Meydam glass tableware designed for the ceramic industry and packaging for the plastics industry.

After his retirement in 1984, he dedicated himself to designing unica, which, among other things, the glassworks of Nonfoux (Switzerland), Bärnbach (Austria), Great Torrington (England) and Novy Bor (Czech Republic) were carried out. In addition, he continued to design serieproducts for Leerdam series on a freelance basis until 1989. In 1986, 1987, 1988 and 2003, he was responsible for the year objects of the national glass museum Leerdam.
